Ness and his friends are eatting out at the Fourside Cafe. After Ness notices how expensive his friend's orders are, he gets really mad. Paula is disappointed at Ness's 'cruel' responds and leaves convincing Poo and Jeff to follow her. Ness regrets his actions and wants Paula to 'be with him again.

Shortly after they leave, the Insane Cultists stop on by to the Fourside Cafe. After seeing Ness they are scared they are going to die. Ness is ready to fight them, but after noticing his HP is only 1...he realizes he is the one who is screwed. The Cultists notice his HP as well and kidnap him.

Ness's Friends return to the Cafe, to 'check if he is ready to apologize'. On there arrival, he isn't there and Paula begins to worry. During the search Poo finds and paintbrush left at the scene. With this clue, they asume it is the Cultist of Happy Happy Village.

At the Lab of the Cultist, Ness is trapped and is hoping his friends will save him. One of the Cultist states he blocked the room with giant pencil statues (If you've played Earthbound you'd know what these are).

Paula and company are now at the room with the statues. Noticing that Ness has the Pencil Eraser they realize that they are all doomed.

Ness is about to be converted in a Cultist, but out of no where Paula, Jeff and Poo come in that destroy all that is left of the Cultist.

Outside of the building now, Ness apologizes about his behavior early. He also almost reveals his feelings for Paula. To cover up Ness ask how they got passed the statues.

A flashback shows that with the help of a 8-bit Mario they jumped over the pencils. Sadly though Mario's live was lost in an unnessisarry bloody incident.

After the flashback, Ness offers to go back to the restaurant and pay for what ever they want.

After Credits, Janitor is shown clean up the mess where Mario was killed.
